US WOMEN'S OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP 2007 (GOLF)

..."Ociffer, I swear to Drunk, I'm not God"...

(Amy Yang already touched her nose. Here she's trying to walk a straight line...)

(Here's Annika Sorenstam praying for Amy to pass the sobriety test because...well...she was supposedly the designated driver...!)

(And this is dear Karrie Webb, ..."There's no mo' gals...I think I drank whatever was left...")

Women’s US Open USGA Golf Championship

The greatest event in the women’s game, the U.S. Women's Open is coming back to Southern Pines, NC.

This years’ US Women’s Open Championship is worth a whooping U$3.1 million and the number one female golfer in the world, Lorena Ochoa is ready to give it all and take that Cup home for the first time. This would be her first major which is really outstanding considering she has played only four full seasons on the LPGA Tour.

Some of the big competitor names that come to mind are Wendy Doolan, the youngster Paula Creamer, previous Cup winner Karrie Webb, Suzann Pettersen, Sweden’s Golf Superstar Annika Sorenstam, Golf Sensation Morgan Pressel, , South Korean pro Mi Hyun Kim, Katherine Hull and the Gold Coast based Korean, Amy Yang and then there's the 12 yr. old Lexie Thompson who became the youngest female player to qualify for the US Women’s Open. Yes, she’s only 12 and yet this girl has already earned her spot and beat Morgan Pressel’s (another 12 yr. old tennis player) previous record of the 2001 Women's Open by a few months.

The renovated golf course at the Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club is simply gorgeous and it seems to be a preferred location for the LPGA and USGA events because of its for bouncy fairways, a set of challenging, topsy-turvy greens and some magnificent scenery as this is the third time the US Women’s Open is hosted at this golf course since 1996 and a total of half a dozen USGA Championships have also been played at this magnificent Donald Ross designed course.

From June 25th to July 1st all eyes are on the USGA Women’s Open Championship and I'll be watching it too. It's time to start making picks; this event really comes and goes so quick you really have to know in advance who's doing good and who doesn't stand a chance. A cruel world even for the babes....

Gotomypc.com and let me bet for god's sakes!

First, the good news: The Tribe came back on the ninth against the struggling Oakland Athletics and is right now on a first place tie with the Tigers atop the American League Central division!

Of course, I wanted to bet on the Indians against the A’s yesterday for the MLB and for the life of me, I couldn’t find my price per head account number and password anywhere. I had it saved in my laptop at home and to my disgrace, I was stuck at my cubicle for the next 7 ½ hrs. Luckily, after going through my drawers over and over again and checking every hidden file on my work computer to see if I had stored it there, I remembered I had it saved on my home PC and had also installed GotoMyPC a few days ago which allows you to access your computer remotely. That was neat. I installed the system just because my daughter needed to access something from her computer at home while we were going for coffee. She cannot unplug herself for one second and so carrying her laptop she logged on to GotoMyPC and was able to retrieve whatever nonsense bs it was that she was so desperate to find. Yeah I know I sound hypocrite, but I used the very same system: I went to GotoMyPC.com then logged in and was able to access my home laptop and retrieve my pay per head account number and password to bet heavy on the Tribe!!! Without it, I wouldn’t have won me a grand by betting the Indians yesterday! Wasn’t it a great game? I didn’t even get to watch it all...couldn’t watch the beginning but that’s ok, I’m happy as it is.

Why did I need that password so bad?

Well, my bookie has already fully moved on to a Pay Per Head service and so I no longer have to deal with him except when settling what I owe or collecting my hard earned dough (yes, it’s hard to earn when you’re not really good on parlays.) So I have to call in my bets to a Pay Per Head Sportsbook Service. And I have to admit I’m glad about that: a price per head service is a much more efficient and confidential way for me to bet. I don’t really like my bookie somedays: this is an old timer who is usually cranky and way in over his head. He’s too busy to talk, has trouble hearing and usually makes snappy comments about my sports betting choices and at times confuses me because I don’t know if he wants to manipulate my bets for me to lose or if he’s really making fun of my not so wise wagering choices. It’s simply not the type of guy I’d invite to come over for poker night with the rest of the fellows so, now that I don’t have to wager through him, my betting experience has become blissful through this Pay Per Head Sportsbook.

I call a toll free number from my cell and voila! A nice young Costa Rican lady answers the phone with the sweetest, sexiest accent and says: “Sports, May I have your account number and password?” and although that phrase is usually a less cold way to say, ‘let’s get this over with’, in her tiny, melodic voice it sounds delightful…I no longer have to listen to the old hag coughing up lines on the phone, barking about how I take too long and how he cannot understand me, yelling for me to speak louder and hanging up as soon as I finish telling him my picks. This girl from the Pay Per Head Call Center tells me how the weather in Costa Rica is like at this time of the year, then tells me to excuse her for a moment because her system is acting up this morning and then gives me the read back on my bet choices and asks me if that’s what I want…that’s whenI wish I could just say: “Yes, baby, that’s exactly what I want”

but …

before I get banned from the Pay Per Head service for harassing the customer service clerks, I simply act kind, stutter my bets and humbly say ‘yes’ to everything she wants to confirm from me. Oh what a lovely time it is to get my girl on the line when I call the PPH shop to wager! I’ve actually found myself calling in my bets one by one just to make sure I get the same girl everytime. I know her phone name is ‘Ceci’ which she told me is short for ‘Cecilia’ and even helped me to learn pronounce it correctly in my butchered imitation of the Spanish language. It sounds something like: “Say-si-leah”. I’m sure that’s not her real name but it just sounds too cute for me to imagine her bearing some anglicized version - such as Ann, Holly or Vivian (Nothing against those three…I’m just mystified by Cecilia!)

Anyhow… Don’t you just love technology? If you wish to be able to access your pc remotely you can open an account with these guys for a free 30 day trial at http://www.gotomypc.com/ and if you’re a bookie and are looking to start outsourcing your business offshore so a call center can handle your players action and not you, then look no more and go to http://www.priceperhead.com/

On the other hand, I leave you with something I found on the net:

…“The only other time the Tigers and Indians had a down-to-the-wire race was in 1940. The Tigers won that one, too. I wonder if what I watched tonight was the latest installment in the first Tigers-Indians down-to-the-wire race since 1940. And I wonder how exciting it will be to flip between the Comerica and Jacobs Field games in September if the Tigers and Indians are still dueling for first then”…

Bet MLB: Oakland Athletics vs. New York Mets

NY Mets vs. Oakland Athletics.

Yesterday, the NY Yankees were swept by the Rockies at the Coors Field (doesn’t just the name Coors make you thirsty? ...damn commercials!) with a 4-3 victory that gave the Rockies their first-ever sweep of the Yankees, and avenged a 3 game sweep at the hands of New York in the Bronx in 2004. And no, I’m most definitely not talking about Daddy Yankee but the New York MLB team
As you can see, some fans weren’t happy at all…

But tonight, the Mets have a chance to lift the NY fans spirits at Shea Stadium in Flushing, New York when they encounter the Oakland A’s (Athletics) tonight at 7pm, although the hopes aren’t high either. Even the 18th New York Mets manager, Willie Randolph has expressed:
...“We're going through a tough time right now...Mama said there would be days like this. Or weeks -- that, too. It's not earth-shattering. Other teams around the league are struggling, too. Most of our guys are struggling at the same time”…

Even so, the underdog continues to be the Oakland Athletic’s in which DiNardo is making his fifth start for this team, having six earned runs in his four previous outings and this would be the first time in which he plays against the Mets in his career. This is what the line is looking like for this game...Who are you betting on? Who’s your favorite for this game?

Paris Hilton in jail?…You can bet on it!

Paris Hilton prison stay…Let’s see some bets!

MM MMM good PARIS!

WTF PARIS???

Paris Hilton is always news and although she’s got little to do with sports betting, she’s already got some Prop Bets going on for her as most major sportsbooks offshore are already taking bets.

I’m sure that authentic, true die-hard bettors won’t pass up the chance to bet on all possible outcomes to Paris Hilton’s prison term. I know I would (will). One example I really liked, was the site:

http://www.gottabet.com/bets/tag/Paris+Hilton

They trade prizes or peanuts (which are the currency on gottabets.com) and anyone is able to participate on propositional bets created by the site visitors themselves. Some of the bets include:

Who will be the first to sign Paris Hilton's Visitor Guest Book?"
Will Paris Hilton be free before Sunday June 24th?
Will Paris Hilton Publish a book from her prison notes?
Will Paris Hilton be a guest host on The View during 2007? ...

Then on another bet, but this time, one Paris Hilton herself made recently, she lost her favorite $200,000 Bentley at a Poker game, after claiming “she’s super lucky and never loses in Vegas”…Sure, except, of course that time with the Bentley and then probably the day before, and the day before that one, and …well you know how it goes. Paris has been banned from the Hilton Hotels Casino by her parents and was urged to seek treatment for her gambling problem.
What are my thoughts on this:

1. I’d be thinking that the memo might not have reached all franchises, so if I was Paris Hilton , I’d head to the Hilton Dubai Jumeirah Resort and try my luck there disguised with a black wig and a gin tonic in my hand... Am I clever or what???

2. Don’t her parents think that she might not even have a problem gambling but a DRUG and EATING disorder? I think that is a bit more visible and could definitely kill Paris Hilton. The gambling problem she could have wouldn’t even make a dent on the filthy rich bank acct. under her name that gets bigger every day.

Of course, those are only my two cents worth. In the meantime, there is also a battle between ABC and NBC on whether Paris Hilton will appear first as a guest on the "Today" Show or at "The View" According to this interesting post (NOT! Really I just cared for the picture of Paris Hilton in a tiny, minuscule bathing suit) http://www.gambling911.com/Paris-Hilton-Today-Meredith-Vieira-062107.html ...."ABC was the front-runner until NBC Universal boss Jeff Zucker personally called Hilton's father Rick and made the pitch, the sources said"...

So there you go, so little time, so many bets and only one socialite locked up ... none other than...Paris Hilton!

I'll keep you posted, (or at least I'll keep putting up hot pics of Paris Hilton online!)

Sports betting Drama - Not just for bookies anymore!

Congratulations Spurs 2007 NBA CHAMPIONS

The NBA 2007 series are finally over, and after a breath taking final game, the score resulted in the San Antonio Spurs winning their 4th NBA Title against the Cleveland Cavaliers last Thursday; their 4th title in 9 yrs.

A complete soap opera: Lebron becomes a father in the morning while his team is swept out of the finals. Tony Parker becomes MVP for the 2007NBA finals and he also gets the girl as he is officially engaged to Latina beauty Eva Longoria.

And with all that drama, the perfect mood was set for one of the most enjoyable times of the year for me to end this past Thursday. The NBA finals simply give me that mid-year excitement that I need to get through the rest of the year…But; I still have some other exciting sports betting events to watch, including all the drama, misfortune, passion and betrayal worthy of a tv reality show or a Sopranos episode, only in sports, the cast gets paid much more and have to sweat a whole lot as well. Here’s my list of what’s hot this week on sports betting:

MLB Baseball:

…“Take me out to the ball game, Take me out with the crowd. Buy me some steroids and Cracker Jack, I don't care if I never get back or if I get santioned by the League”…

Oh sorry, that’s not how the lyrics went?
Right...well..., the point is Jason Giambi has until Thursday to agree to a meeting with steroids investigator George Mitchell or could possibly suffer disciplinary actions from baseball commissioner Bud Selig due to admitting his use of steroids and other performance-enhancing substances. This scandal in which the Yankees player has been involved recently along with Barry Bonds from the San Francisco Giants is really a serious matter. Although I believe he’s spoken to the media and apologized several times and really seems to want to put the matter behind him as much as possible, there could be serious repercutions. In the case of Greg Anderson who was Bonds' former trainer he has been convicted and currently serves time in jail for perjury, fraud charges and for failing to cooperate with a grand jury. Did you think baseball wasn't exciting enough? Anyone? I’ll keep you posted on how this unfolds.

NASCAR:

The intimidators’ (Dale Earnhardt Sr.) life is being portrayed on a movie called DALE sponsored by Nascar, GMC and CMT films and will be racing into AMC theaters on July 19th all over the US for fans to reminisce on the life and achievements of this passionate driver(http://www.cmt.com/movies/dale/ ). All this while in a controversial decision, Dale Earnhardt Jr. has declared he is leaving behind his fathers’ company, his legendary number 8, the emblematic red uniform and of course the sponsorship of beer giant “Budweiser “. He will be running with Hendrick Motorsports from now on and subsequently this turn of events Kyle Busch NASCAR's has almost immediately become the Most-Sought Free Agent in Nascar as he will be leaving his former team.

This has been one of the most controversial moves ever in Nascar's history . The fans are still so vulnerable regarding his fathers’ death and seeing Dale Earnhardt Jr. just move on like that on to better horizons might just hit their loyalty in the nuts. On the other hand, if Busch has a vision, he’ll seize this opportunity and here is where you can be witnessing the birth of two legendary rivals that will define things on the speedway. Kind of reminds me of Venom and Spiderman but that’s only me.
That's all that's exciting this week on my sports betting agenda, but, then again I've been really busy getting over a wild weekend... I mean, I've been busy working a lot. :)

NBA Finals Cleveland Cavs. Vs. Detroit Pistons

For 21 minutes time stood still at game 6 of the Cleveland Cavs. Vs. Detroit Pistons at Quicken Loans arena in Cleveland. At the end of the 1st quarter technical difficulties with the score board and the game and shot clocks caused the game to be stopped. The game eventually resumed but with out the score boards and clocks.

LeBron, Gibbons and the Cavs succeeded in cooking the Pistons and advancing to their first NBA Finals in franchise history. A convincing 16 point win over the frustrated and irate Pistons led to the ejection of Rasheed Wallace via a double technical foul.

Game one of the NBA finals the Cavs vs. Spurs kicks off on Thursday in San Antonio. The oddsmakers have the Spurs as heavy 8 point favorites. But Cleveland on pure adrenalin and a foundation of beating the Spurs both time they plaid this season hopefully will sneak away with a game 1 win.

The this best of 7 finals is 2-3-2 series meaning the first 2 games are in San Antonio then 3 games in Cleveland then last 2 games in San Antonio if needed. If the Cavs can come away with at least 1 win in the first two games and bring it home to Cleveland they stand a fair chance of taking the NBA series.

Mike Brown, head coach for the Cavs has finals experience both in 2003 and 2005 as a coach for the Spurs. Mike goal when given the reins of the cavs was to build a defensive team like the spurs.

Although the Spurs have 3 world titles, the Cavs match up well with them. The NBA needed a shot in the arm and this series proves to do just that. The chosen one Vs Duncan and the gang will prove to rack up the TV ratings and should prove to be a memorable series for the times to come.

HOT NBA ACTION! Cleveland Cavaliers take Game 5 at the Palace

Cavaliers take Game 5 at the Palace

The Cleveland Cavaliers now holding a 3-2 game advantage over the Detroit Pistons. The Cavs did so in the most amazing performance by one player in NBA playoff history. Not only did the Cavs out score Detroit in the 3rd quarter which has been a nemesis for Cleveland through out this series. They did so in all 4 quarters and in 2 over times.

LeBron rose to a level never seen before. At about the 8 minute mark of the 4th quarter Lebron James turned it on. He scored 29 of the 30 points scored by the Cavs and a total of 48 points on the day. When compared to Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan who certainly has his playoff highlight reel.

Cleveland’s chosen one started the spree after missing back to back free throws at the midway point of the 4th quarter. Obliviously frustrated Lebron asked for the ball the next Cleveland possession and proceeded with back to back slam dunks igniting the Cleveland explosion to follow.

Lebron James had dunks, fade away jumpers and a slam dunk with 2.2 seconds left in 2nd overtime to finish the Pistons 109 to 107. When asked how he felt about his amazing performance James just smiled.

The Series continues June 2nd In Cleveland and the Cavs are looking to finish the Pistons and move on to the NBA finals for the first time in 15 years.
