Sure, the Lakers fell to the Celtics this year at the NBA Finals , but future looks promising for a franchise that was questioned due to their lack of efforts to build a solid team, and the main person who got the Lakers thinking on why they hadn’t made it to the finals since 2004 was Kobe Bryant.
Kobe was more than unsatisfied with LA’s outcomes for the last seasons, and even demanded to be traded, feeling that he wanted to be with a team that could win an NBA championship, as a result, he was often criticizing Lakers manager Mitch Kupchak and coach Phil Jackson’s decisions, oh and let’s not forget his bashing on Andrew Bynum.
Kobe got alot of hate from Lakers fans and got booed for the opening of the 2007-08 season, and it seemed like the 29 year-old shooting guard was going to wear a different NBA shirt, but the trade never came, and it was all for good, as Bryant won his first league MVP award and became more a team player which helped the Lakers to finish 2 games away from winning their 15th NBA title.
Now we will have to wait until next season and see if this long-time rivalry between Boston and LA is going to continue as a couple of decades ago, though I still believe the Celtics are a better team.
