McLaren fired from Mariners

The Mariners are too close to lose 100 games this season only, and it was just was a matter of time until they do whatever it was necessary to bring some good results.

And so John McLaren, who came to the renewed Mariners just one year ago, was released from his coaching duties today since Seattle wanted to be at the playoffs this year but instead, they are holding the worst record in the league in despite of having a $100 million dollar payroll.

McLaren serves in the major leagues for 21 ½ years before assuming a head coaching position, too bad that he didn’t had the luck to remain in such position.

But not only John McLaren got fired, vice president and general manager Bill Bavasi was also removed and replaced by Lee Pelekoudas just 3 days ago, so I would guess Pelekoudas had something to do with McLaren’s displacement.

Bench coach Jim Riggleman will replace McLaren for the rest of the season. Riggleman managed the San Diego Padres and the Cubs in the past and had a record of 486-598 (.448) with both teams.
