The Warriors had a long time without seeing a victory at the Staples Center, 9 games exactly, but yesterday that was over when Golden State defeated the Lakers at their house by 115-111 with Stephen Jackson scoring 6 of his 31 points in the last 38 seconds of the game, in general this was the second straight victory for Golden State over the Lakers.
The Lakers successfully recovered from a 26 point lead by the Warriors, but when entering the last moments of the game, Jackson and Kobe Bryant were throwing in everything shot, things were 112-108 and Kobe scored the last 3 points for his team, and so Jackson responded and gave the Warriors the final lead.
For the Warriors, Monta Ellis had 31 points and Baron Davis scored a total of 18 to give Golden State their 10th victory in a 14 game span, while for the Lakers, Kobe finished with 36 and had a season-high 14 rebounds and teammate Lamar Odom had 19 points.
"It's been a long time since we won a game here, they tell me, I haven't been with this team that long, but it's always a tough win here, and it always has been no matter what team I've been coaching." Warriors Coach Don Nelson said. "
This is the fifth game that Pau Gasol has missed for the Lakers but he is expected to come back any time this week and might see action this coming Wednesday against the Bobcats.
